You know what’s wrong? It’s wrong that millions of websites and blogs even the ones that are on top of the list still didn’t mobilize their websites.

Millions of people from work, home and anywhere in the world are browsing Internet via their mobile devices yet webmasters still don’t see the benefit of mobilizing the website.

I really hate the fact that when I go to some “popular” tech blog and I have to wait till site loads, then I have to pinch-zoom-in to read the content. For wordpress bloggers it takes literally 20 seconds to mobilize their blogs: I use wp-touch..its an awesome wordpress plugin that can difirentiate the visitors, whether they are browsing from Some Tablet, Smartphone or Desktop PC.

When I look at some of my sites that received millions of pageviews, 15-25% of traffic came from mobile devices!

Don’t be stupid and wait 5 years till you realize that you can help your mobile visitors read your content faster and easier.

Get wp-touch if you are on wordpress, if you have some other CMS platform, lookup how to mobilize your website. Or pay $200 some offshore developer to mobilize your website. Trust me it’s worth it, and people like me will love to come back and read your content.

Ok so this will be my first post that I’ll attempt to write on this blog via iPhone app called WordPress. So far iPhone app for WordPress seems to be easy to use, very straight forward but that also means it’s very limited to what you can do. For an example if I would like to view post in HTML I can’t. Nor I am not able to use bullet points. So basically I am stuck with text writing only. I think that is the reason why this app is low rated on apple store. But for quick posts I think the app does well job.

Another way I usually post stuff is by installing mobile admin plugin on WordPress, that way when I login with android or any other mobile device it’s easier for me to write quick posts.

Back in September I wrote depending on Google and other search engine traffic might bite you sooner or later. Well I have been bitten by Google News team and I must say that came quite un-expected.

My business blog MWD was listed in Google News and after 1 year they send me this:

Upon reviewing your site, http://www.mwd.com/, we found that we can no
longer include it in Google News at this time. We have certain guidelines
in place regarding the quality of sites which are included in the Google
News index.

There was no explanation why they removed it except the link to their guidelines which MWD was following all along. So what will happen to MWD now? Well after reviewing traffic for 2010 out of 2.7 Million pageviews we only got 350.000 from Google News the rest of the traffic was coming from Google Web search and other search engines. Sure it will impact my traffic but still its not end of the world to get back to where I was before.

Reason I am writing this to you is because you could learn thing or two.

  • Don’t depend on 1 or 2 sources of incoming traffic
  • Always search for new sources
  • Bing, Yahoo, Forums, Back Links from others, Social Media (Twitter, Facebook)
  • Add your website to known directories
  • Don’t make your competitor an enemy, be friends with them and help each other
  • Talk to people via Social Media that are relevant to your website
  • Even though Google did not state why they removed MWD from Google News, I have certain feeling that one or few top blog owners did not like how MWD ranked for specific keywords. Yesterday when iPhone 4 for Verizon news was released I wrote an article explaining when people will be able to buy iPhone 4 etc.. that article alone made over bit over 15.000 pageviews and was ranking No.1 for keywords like iPhone 4 verizon, Verizon iPhone 4 release date etc… I am pretty sure that top blog owners looked if they rank high enough, and found out that MWD outranked them, and since most of them know Google PR, Google Employees it is easy for them to just say: Cut him off.

Am I worried? Not really nor should you in case that ever happens to you, as I said above search for different alternatives and don’t depend on one source of incoming traffic.

Well folks it was fun writing this, hope you had fun reading it too.

My No.1 rule for any blog I start is to keep traffic growing, no matter how. I have been really lucky not to break the No.1 rule and that’s why I own blogs with over 50.000 visitors per month for each blog.

I check blog traffic once a day, and  let’s say my average blog visits per month is 15.000 a day.

So, if today I get 12.000 visitors I’ll do my best next day to recover lost visitors by posting more articles, I target low ranked keywords and I must reach 18.000 visits that day.

If I don’t I don’t kill my self over it.

Back in July my goal was to reach 1.000.000 pageview per month on MWD blog, but unfortunately I am not going to make it. Currently MWD is at 600-650.000 pageviews and it’s really impossible to reach 400-450K pageviews in 20 days unless I do some scandal or expose iPad 2 :).

Basically what I am trying to tell you is that you should not let things slide out of your hand. The rule above can be applied almost to anything.

Let’s say that your goal was to lose 50 pound this year, and you said every month I will lose 4 pounds and you were doing great January, February, March because you lost 16 pounds already. But then in April you lost only 2 pounds, well don’t let it get to you, try in May to lose 6 pounds, work bit harder.

Whatever you do, the hard work you are performing is going to pay it self off.

I know a lot of people that start something and they do good hard work for month or two, but then later on they get bit lazy, and that laziness increases month after month, until they give up (mostly after 6 months).

Don’t get me wrong I do same thing, but I keep trying to do my best at what I am best at. So even though your website traffic might be plunging a bit at the moment,be proud because  your health and weight might be in really good condition…

Praising your self for some good stuff you did for your self, increases your level of motivation to do other things.

Sorry for my grammar above, I really had to type this fast and get it out of my chest, ill do my best to get back at this and revise it.

Recently I have been getting lots of traffic from Facebook and to be honest I did not even register that I could triple the amount of visits. Basically I created Facebook Fan (Community) pages for devices I love! Like for an example Samsung Galaxy S, I have bit over 800 fans there, then I created for T-Mobile G2 and have bit over 300 fans there.  I have 8 Facebook fan pages created and total of Fans = 7500+ for all pages. Each time I would post something on http://mwd.com regarding the topic I would share the link with fans, so I am really not spamming them because I share other blog url’s too.

Daily I get about 200-300 visits depending on if I share the link or not. Now imagine if I would create 40 Facebook fan pages? That’s about 2000-3000 visits of targeted audience right there. Thing is, who will manage all 40 pages and share items?

I rather stick with 8 pages that I know I can give quality content, to the audience.

Anyway, I thought I would share that info in case you have blog and you are trying to build quality readership.

The other day I read how one guy lost $4.000.000 because Google removed him from search engine. Sorry  I forgot the name of the guy, if I find it I will update this post.

So basically what that tells you is that if your business depends on Google and other search engines to that extend its like Business ticking bomb when it will explode and ruing your business.

I recently (2 days ago) filed for LLC for my blog and I have given a though of “What if”

What if Google removes me from Google News?

What if Google marks my page as “Malware” because some hacker decided to place malicious code on my blog?

After so many “What if’s” I was not one bit terrified because I experienced that all in past 7 years of blogging. And I know how to deal with it.

If your business depends so much on search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo start thinking about how much money, audience and customers would you lose if your business is not listed for certain keywords or not listed at all.

Don’t think what you would do then, think as if it will happen in next 5 minutes.

    Who would you contact?

How would you find the problem?

How will you get removed pages back on search engines?

And most important which I will write about next, How many audience or customers do you have who talks highly about your business? (Word of mouth).

Back in 2009 when I was at the verge of success with blog called LiveCrunch, reaching million point two visitors per month, some hacker decided to place malicious code into my wordpress blog just moments later Google and all other search engines including Firefox (Mozilla) marked my blog as “Spam, Malware”.

You get that big fuc***ing banner with text like …Enter this website with confidence, there is known malware on this website that can harm your computer…

    My website plunged 95% down!

    The visit rate was horrifying.

Anyway, I took immediate actions: Cleaned Code from WP, Contacted all parties that marked my blog as spam. My site was operational 16 hours later.

The next day and almost month later my site of 1.2 million pageviews dropped to 700.000 because after they removed my site, keywords I ranked high for, ware taken by others.

Let me not bore you too much with my real life examples…

The message here is to you that you shall be prepared. You should not always count on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Search Engines to drive your traffic.

Word of mouth can’t be killed if you do good! It spreads like virus… and that is exactly what I am doing lately.

Fu** the SE’s I want to connect with my audience because they either chose to love me or hate me. But it’s our responsibility to be loved and gain that word of mouth confidence.

    Your homework for business:

    • If your business depends on Search Engines how would you minimize the workload and who you would contact for help?
    • Gain more word of mouth in positive way of speaking

My name is Joe Hobot and I approve this message :)

Over the past few years I met and talked to so many bloggers that nowadays I don’t even remember their names and If I do they don’t blog anymore.

Almost every one of them I met was super hyped about making money with blogging and be debt free, but when reality hits they can’t handle it.

Blogging to some is joke, to some is just a tool to write their own opinion, and to others is just like any other business. Most people read online about “How To Make Money Online” or “How To Make Money With Blog” and they read 10 articles and think they can do it too, well I am sorry it’s not working that way.

I am not saying that it’s not possible to make money and live from blogging, what I am saying is that having expertise in Social Media does not make you Blogging expert. And even if you know all about SEO, Writing, Blogging, Social Media and whatever not..you are still not going to make more than $1 per day. Trust me! I know.

Not trying to be a smart ass and say that only certain people can make living from blogging, that is so not true. Main thing in blogging is to have passion, devotion, be organized, be able to think out of the box and don’t think about crap load of money you will make.

From those I met they were blogging for lets say 1-5 months and still after 5 months they make 15c per day!

    That’s horrible dude!

But do they ask them self: What the fuck am I doing wrong?

Nope! Or maybe they do but don’t have that passion to research or ask the right person.

Most people now days that I meet know that, I mastered the way to make blogging part of my living, I can pay off my car, my loans, my house and bunch of other things and when they ask me how did you do it?

For a second I think: “Can I really tell my whole strategy that I worked on for 5-6 years in 15 minutes?” Sure I can… but how important is that to them? 15 minutes?

Now you know that blogging isn’t just those 15 minutes of reading or listening to others that are somewhat successful.

On daily basis I comment at least on 20-30 blogs, I write 5-15 blog posts, write at least 20-50 tweets, I update my Facebook page(s), manage people I hired to blog for me, tell them what to write and more

…and even now after so many years, I go back to few blogs that I read on daily basis to learn what’s new out there , how to improve my blogging skills.

Now, I don’t want to discourage you , if you are blogger and tell you to do the same…or learn about blogging for 5-6-7 years and come back, all I am trying to say is that blogging isn’t a joke…it takes practice, time and most importantly passion.

I like to help, if you have questions please do comment below…tell me that I am Jack Ass…Blog Guru…Bitch..Ignorant…Intelligent… whatever you comment, one thing you should remember. It’s going to be your opinion…and I might learn from it…

Ah my very first blog post on my own domain name! Took a while for me to do that and now here I am writing this post for 1 or 100 reader(s).

It’s magical how blogs I owned made millions and millions pageviews but I never thought of blogging about things I like, dislike in my own opinion, well now I will.

So whats are you going to find at Joe Hobot’s blog?

Well I am going to try to blog at least once a week, about things that maybe are important to you. For example I could write a topic about: Why do people get discouraged in blogging world. Or things like: Why do people really like iPhone 4? What do I hate and love about it….

Sure that might not concern you or it’s not important to you…but for sure you will not find on this blog on how to fix  your relationship. For that you might visit Tony Robbins :)

Anyway, I am running out of time here…have to go back to work. So don’t subscribe to rss feeds or anything like that because I am going to change the whole design and everything.

In mean while you can follow me on two twitter accounts @JoeHobot and @DMJoe

By the way I am no Seth Godin or Tony Robbins or even Dalai Lama … but maybe I am smarter then they are when it comes to blogging, technology and other stuff.
